Starcraft University opened its doors to new gamers on October 7, 1999 by Chancellor Qwerty and Vice-Chancellor Ballisto. The new institution was appropiately titled Qwerty’s Starcraft University. As a young website, Starcraft University offered many things to its students. First and foremost, strategy. With other websites offering cookie-cutter builds and pop strats, Starcraft University gave the new player a plethora of useful guides. Qwerty writes…

“Well I started this page due to the fact that there are many gamers out there wanting to get better, especially at Starcraft. So why not create a page where they can come and visit to learn more about the game, since there’s a lot of things that aren’t covered in the instruction manual. You can easily improve your game by reading the many articles I have here, instead of playing the amount of games I have. If you ever wanted to get that extra edge, or keep up with current strategies this is the place as well. I’ll be working on getting current battle reports, and updates on the SC ladder scene. However I can’t do all this myself, so go by the projects section and see if you want to help me out…..

I want to make this a real learning experience, as a university should be. Hopefully I’ll add more features in the future…..”

Later, Qwerty would resign as acting Chancellor; paving a way for the new Chancellor, Ballisto to take the prestigious role. On March 11, 2000, Qwerty’s Starcraft University officially became Ballisto’s Starcraft University.

With the new Chancellor in position, the University began changing its look and renovating the overall design.
